Thirthahalli (Kannada: ತೀರ್ಥಹಳ್ಳಿ) is a panchayat town located in the Shimoga District of the state of Karnataka, India. It lies on the bank of the river Tunga and is also the headquarters of the Thirthahalli Taluk of Shimoga district.

    I studied in this school fro 3rd standard to 7th Std. in the year 1969 to 1974. At that time there was only Kannada medium. Even today I remember my teachers, classmates and the beautiful place. My Dad was the Engineer in PWD and we stayed in the Office Compound near the Government Hospital. I think in the year 1973 for the first time our school secured 4 ranks for Seventh standard exams in the District level. First Rank - Geetha Kasaravalli, Second Rank - Quinee Lewis [My sister], Third Rank - Vasanthi Kamath and Seventh Rank - Sudhir.     Thirthahalli is on the bank of river Tunga, and is about 60 kM West of Shimoga on the state highway from Shimoga to Manipal/Udupi/Mangalore viz Agumbe. It has religious importance and is close to Kuppali, the birth place of the great Kannada poet of 20th century K V Puttappa (Or KUVEMPU as is popularly known.)
